My husband and I have run one business or another together since before we were even married. Times sure have changed over the years technology wise. I am not even sure if the internet was invented back then. You use to build mailing lists and other data bases by word of mouth or mailers, now there is a way to do what is called screen scraping.
I do not understand exactly how it works, but I found a company called Mozenda that makes software to do this automatically. They even say right on their website that sometimes you don't want to know how something works, you just want it to work...that's me! Do boggle my brain with a bunch of terms that I will not remember in ten minutes, just show me how to work and and how to use the information it collects.
This type of data harvesting as I have heard it called can get a little tricky, and I want to make sure we do it the right way. I don't want to collect the wrong type information or anything to personal. I like the sound of this company, they even have and article on their site about Being a Responsible Scraper. That is how I want to be about data collection, RESPONSIBLE.

Washington D.C., Not A state? hmmmm
I just never really thought of it before, but our State Capital is not part of a state, but is a district.
Maryland and Virginia gave the acres that comprises this area.
Why or how did I miss this info in school?
There was so much very important history and social studies that was of such importance that I am wondering why we weren't give such information.
I am now wondering how the US collects tax dollars from those people who live in DC since it is not a state.
Yes I know it is in the US, but if not a state how does the government justify taking federal AND State taxes?
So many questions so little time.

Coming to Terms With Life Insurance
This business of getting older seems to make me feel older. Getting all your insurances, medicines, doctor appointments etc is enough to drive me crazy. Medicare parts A,B,C, whats next part Z?
I have been doing a ton of research for my husband and I to try and get all of this in order. On top of our medical coverage, I would really like to update our life insurance policies. I found an interesting site when I typed in the phrase.. Company Offers Life Insurance. The site is called AdvantageTermLife.com, but they handle all kinds of insurance policies. Everything from Whole Life, to Universal, policies for smokers and more. There is a helpful little form on the home page that you can fill out with your basic information and you can go from there.
I really liked this list of ideas they put together to lower your insurance rates. For instance they say to not buy insurance that you do not need, and not to buy riders that are not needed. This may sound simple, but how often do we really pay close attention to what coverage we have? I also found there explanations helpful. I always get term life insurance and whole life insurance confused. They break it down and explain what each type is, and who needs what, love that!

Got Milk?
I live on a farm and times are pretty hard and the area I live in is economically depressed. It's so bad, that I've heard some of our neighbors were having a hard time making ends meet. This morning, I woke up to hear a knock at the door. When I went to answer the door -- this is the sad sight that I saw.
It just about broke my heart!
Please scroll down, to see for yourself...!!

Guys Won't Ask For Directions?
Ok so guys won't stop and ask for directions.
Does that make them smarter than women or just more patient?
OR how about the British guy that trusted his life to his GPS?
You have got to read this one...
GPS OFF A CLIFF!
Now let me get this staright, won't stop and ask a real live human for directions, but will listen to the rantings of a box on the dash that he has never met the person behind the box...and it sings silly songs.
Things that make you go hmmm.

Junk Food Run $$$
Have you ever just been sitting around and thought to yourself..."Self, we need to go on a junk food run".
Just a few things I haven't had for a while.
I am over due for a treat now and then and this would be THEN!
So I grab hubby and his wallet and inform him of "JUNK FOOD RUN!"
Yikes! He almost ran me over on the way out the door.
OK now we are at the store, I pick up the foods we wanted for tomorrow's breakfast then it's off to the junk food races.
We are in the store a grand total of 22 minutes, get to the check out and KABOOM!
HOW MUCH?!!!
$98.22.
That is one heck of a junk food run if you ask me.
I had better not hear ANYONE tell me they can't find anything to snack on around here for at least 2 days.
